PrimeRevenue is a thriving global company straddling three distinct business sectors: technology, supply chain and finance. Given this intersection, people are often surprised to learn we’re headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. To some, New York City, Silicon Valley or London would be more fitting.
But to many operating within the international supply chain ecosystem – like UPS, Amazon, Delta, Home Depot, Mercedes, Porsche, Kia and countless others – Atlanta is an ideal place to have global and regional roots.
Deloitte recently conducted a study, in collaboration with the Metro Atlanta Chamber, of seven leading supply chain metropolitan areas across the U.S. – including Atlanta, the Bay Area, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York/New Jersey and Seattle. Atlanta ranked #2, behind only New York City.
The study measured four key indicators of a city’s supply chain robustness – corporate activity and presence, talent and education, policy and infrastructure and technological prowess. Each city/area was also analyzed across 16 secondary metrics utilizing data from 20 sources.
Here are a few highlights on how Atlanta performed in the study:
- Ranked #1 for supply chain cluster specialization with a focus on having strong workforces related to distribution, e-commerce, transportation and logistics
- Ranked #2 for favorable wages in supply chain management and technology
- Ranked #1 for affordable cost of living
- Ranked #1 for favorable cost of doing business
- Ranked #2 for strong transportation infrastructure and warehousing availability
Is it any surprise that nearly one-fifth of the top logistics IT providers choose to call Atlanta home?
Deloitte’s study validates what many world-class companies – including PrimeRevenue – have known for a while. With a booming local economy and friendly business climate, Atlanta is a phenomenal place to do business especially if that business intersects with supply chain.
Metro Atlanta is home to 17 corporate-led supply chain innovation centers. Our cost of living is 33 percent below the average for all studied regions. We’re also home to four of the top 25 supply chain institutions (Georgia Tech takes top honors), the world’s busiest airport, and an equally busy network of railroads. Atlanta’s leading supply chain think tank has produced some of the world’s top logistics and supply chain technology companies – including UPS, Manhattan Associates, American Global Logistics, and PrimeRevenue.
Atlanta is also uniquely defined by its global accessibility and reach. For an international company like PrimeRevenue, this is extremely important. We need to be accessible to our global customers, partners and colleagues (and want them to be accessible to us) – and Atlanta delivers on that in the literal sense. The city is also home to a strong international business community with influence across the global economy.
For PrimeRevenue, the decision to call Atlanta home has been very intentional. Strong supply chain and tech sectors, a favorable business climate (especially for international companies), an encouraging tax rate and a deep pool of talent make this an ideal city to put down roots. The growth potential here is limitless. As summarized in Deloitte’s study, Atlanta is well positioned to become “…the outright supply chain leader by capturing the largest share of Fortune 1000 companies than other (cities) in this study.”
We’re proud to be a part of the supply chain “magic” happening in Atlanta. There’s certainly no shortage of it!
